About JotChord
Your New (Favorite?) Tool for Making Nashville Number Charts
Hi there,
My name is Dan, and I'm the creator of JotChord™.
For most of my life, I have played in bands and at church. I started using the Nashville Number System a few years ago, when my church started incorporating CCM into our worship services. At one point, I was making ~10-15 new charts per week. I could no longer afford to spend 2 hours on each chart. I needed to get it down to ~5-10 minute per chart.
I tried everything: NNS-specific iPad apps, Google Docs, hand-written charts. I felt like existing tools slowed me down. NNS-specific apps only worked on iPads and required too many taps. With word processing software, it was too difficult to add the many unique symbols that NNS supports (underlining split bars, diamonds, slash chords, even basic sharps and flats!). After too many evenings spent wrestling with clunky options, I decided to build the solution I wished existed.
That’s how JotChord™ was born. It’s a tool built from the ground up with one simple mission: to enable musicians to make beautifully-formatted number charts as quickly as possible.
Why JotChord™?
I'm not just the developer—I'm also its most dedicated user. Every feature is designed with care, focusing on what truly matters:
- Simplicity: No corporate bloat. Just the features you need to get the job done.
- Direct Line: Have feedback or an idea? Your message goes directly to the person who can make it happen.
- Passion-Fueled: This isn't just a business; it's a passion project dedicated to solving a real problem.
Let's Build This Together
JotChord™ is more than a product; I hope it becomes a community. A place where we can share charts and learn from each other. Your feedback is the most valuable resource I have, and it will directly shape the future of this tool.
I invite you to follow and DM me on @jotchordto share your thoughts.
Our Path Forward
The core functionality of JotChord™ is completely free, and I plan to keep it that way. To ensure I can continue building, operating and improving the app, I may introduce optional premium features in the future. This model allows me to keep the lights on while ensuring the tool remains accessible to everyone.
Thank you for being here. I can't wait to see what you create.
Best,
Dan, Creator of JotChord™
